How to check if a Steam game runs on your Mac

Before you buy, take one minute to check. A game that is “on Steam” is not always on Mac. For more picks with no fighting, see cozy games with no combat.

  1. Look for the Apple logo. On the Steam store page, the box with the price shows small icons for each system. An Apple logo means there is a Mac version.
  2. Open System Requirements. Scroll down the store page. If there is a macOS tab, read the minimum macOS version and the chip it needs.
  3. Filter your search. In Steam search, open Narrow by OS and tick macOS, then search for “cozy”.
  4. Read recent reviews. Search the reviews for “M1”, “M2” or “Mac” to see how it runs on Apple silicon.

If a game has no Mac version, it may still run through tools such as CrossOver or a cloud gaming service, but that is not guaranteed.
